My name is Mario Gil. I am a 15-year-old racing driver from Burnaby B.C. At the moment, I’m racing across North America in top level go-karting series’.

From a young age, I have always had a strong passion for cars and racing. When I was 5, I was diagnosed with a rare form of Cancer called LCH (Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis). With my passion for cars, my dad decided to start me in karting to help keep my mind off the disease and the treatments I had to undergo.  Now, I have grown into a dedicated and passionate driver.

I had to go through two and a half years of chemotherapy, and I am still left with an incurable condition called Diabetes Insipidus as a result, but that hasn’t stopped me from chasing my dream of becoming a race car driver! However, to continue this journey towards my destiny, I am looking for your support.

I will be racing for the Catalyst Driver Development race team – a program organized by three professional Canadian racing drivers to help guide and coach a very select group of young drivers like me. I will also be attending select races with Italian Motors USA and will be racing with an Italkart package prepared by Italian Motors.

Each year, I travel to national and regional races across America – everywhere from Washington and Oregon to Las Vegas, and even some races in California and on the east coast. I also race in club events in Sumas, WA – where my home track of SIMA is located.

This past season, I won the championship in the largest northwestern karting series, the ICP Cup, in the junior division.  I also qualified 1st at the F-Series national race in North Carolina, and won many races in the northwest and at SIMA against many competitive drivers. I am aiming for a larger national presence in 2020 as I’m stepping up to the most competitive Senior Shifter class with karts that go up to 160km/h.

My parents, grandparents, and a number of businesses have supported me thus far. However, each year, the costs continue to grow as we attend more large scale, national events across the United States, and so I have now taken it upon myself to contact people to assist in supporting me on my journey in this great sport.

I would love to discuss the opportunity of promoting your business through my sport and network. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and considering, I really appreciate it.
