My name is Mario Gil. I am a 14-year-old go kart racer from Burnaby B.C. Although I am Canadian, all of my racing takes place in the United States. I have been karting with my dad, George Gil, for 9 years and counting. From a young age, I have always had a strong passion for cars and racing. At the age of 2, I was watching the early Fast and the Furious movies and recreating the race scenes on the coach with my hot wheels cars. To this day, I am still an avid collector of hot wheels die cast cars. The only thing I would do during the days before school was have unrealistic races with my toy cars. I even made the engine noises. When I was 5, I was diagnosed with a rare form of Cancer called LCH (Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis).  Because of my passion for cars, my dad decided to started me in karting to help keep my mind off the disease and the treatments I had to undergo.  Now, I have grown into a dedicated and passionate driver. I had to go through two and a half years of chemotherapy, and I am still left with an incurable condition called Diabetes Insipidus as a result, but that hasn’t stopped me from chasing my dream of becoming a race car driver! However, to continue this journey towards motorsport greatness, I will need your help.

I will be entering my 10th year of karting at the start of 2019. As I have grown and improved as a racer over the past 9 years of racing, I have been given some great opportunities. I will be entering my 3rd year as part of the Italian Motors USA kart team. Yearly with the team, I travel to 4 national races in an east coast series called The F Series over a dozen more local races in the Washington and Oregon states called the Gold Cup series. I also race the SIMA Club series at my local and home track, SIMA (Sumas International Motorsports Academy). Some of my recent achievements have been, pole position and 3rd place finish at the 2nd round of F Series in Pennsylvania, a 4th overall at the 3rd round of F Series in New Jersey, and multiple wins at Gold Cup and SIMA races throughout the 2018 season. With all the travelling and racing comes a cost.

My parents and grandparents have supported me thus far however, each year, the costs continue to grow and so I have now taken it upon myself to contact people like yourself, to assist in supporting me on my journey in this great sport.  I would like to race in two classes in the 2019 season. The classes are Tag, the class I’m already in, and Shifter, a new class for me which I am now old enough to race in. With the growing costs and tight budget within my family, the Shifter class seems to be unlikely at this point in time. I am hoping, with your financial support, I will be able to gather enough funds to make both classes happen for myself this year.

If you choose to support me, I will take every opportunity to promote your company through my social media presence. I’m very active on my two social media pages on Instagram and Facebook.  I share my experiences and update the accounts regularly. In any interview, post-race ceremony, or podium ceremony, I will acknowledge your company and your support. Many people in the towns and cities with kart tracks like to come out and watch the races and this is another opportunity in which your sponsorship will be acknowledged. I will put a sticker of your company logo on my kart so every race viewer can see it. In addition, I will put your logo on my website as one of my official partners for all the site visitors to see. Lastly, and most importantly, you will be supporting a young, local talent achieve his dream of becoming the next big name in motorsport.

I hope you will be able to support me in my passion. Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and consider this opportunity, I really appreciate it. If you have any questions or would like to contact me, my email is mariogilmotorsports@gmail.com. You can also check out my social media pages on Instagram and on Facebook.
